Biography Ronnie Gutierrez is a versatile and talented percussionist & drummer that’s played throughout the world. Born in Los Angeles, the son of 1960’s percussion icon, Mike Gutierrez, he began his musical journey at the tender age of four. Surrounded and influenced by Latin music legends, such as Willie Bobo, Luis Miranda and (Ronnie’s Godfather), Bobby Montez. By age twelve, Ronnie had his own band and was performing for school and church events.
Ronnie’s list of collaborations and credits spans the globe and the musical spectrum, from his Latin roots, classical to contemporary. In addition to performing with the California Philharmonic, Germany’s V.D.R. Orchestra, and Holland’s Metropole Orchestra, Ronnie’s credits include concert and album performances with Grammy Award winning artists, Al Jarreau, Andrea Bochelli, Jeffrey Osborne, David Sanborn, Marcus Miller, Brenda Russell, David Pack, Jeff Golub, Jonathan Butler, Euge Grove, Peter White, George Duke, Poncho Sanchez, Paul Brown, as well as performing on the U.S. tour of, All for One, Claire Fisher.
Currently he's on tour with Dave Koz www.davekoz.com His first CD titled “Like Father, Like Son”. His vision for this CD was to share various Latin rhythms with his father Mike Gutierrez, which was his earliest inspiration. The styles on this CD range from Cuban, Puerto Rican & Brazilian influences to Latin Jazz including old school salsa & originals. Mike is 74 years young and sings lead vocals, while Ronnie plays drums, percussion and features Mike on several solos.
